GSOWA Septic Evaluator Training Program

Classroom & Field Sessions:  Tuesday, May 13th   and Saturday, May 17th, 2025,
Kent Clean Septic, 4B Crane Way, Hooksett, NH

This program establishes a minimum level of standard septic system evaluation procedures, with the goal of producing consistent and objective inspections conducted by septic system evaluation professionals in New Hampshire. This program was developed in 2001 by Granite State Onsite Wastewater Association in cooperation from the NH Dept. of Environmental Services.  The NH Board of Septic System Evaluators accepts this program as one of the paths to earning certification as a licensed evaluator under rules within the NH Office of Professional Licensing & Certification.

Those who complete this training program must also complete the Board’s application for certification and pass an exam given by the board.  Information about the steps involved in becoming a NH-licensed Septic System Evaluator can be found on the board’s website:  https://www.oplc.nh.gov/board-septic-system-evaluators

Training Program:  The training program consists of a two-day course. Both sessions will include classroom and field training.  Instructors will follow a manual that will be given to all participants upon arrival at the training site. Training topics include: gathering records and data, plan reading, evaluation methodology, septic tanks and treatment tanks, effluent disposal areas, results of evaluation and interpreting your observations and administrative rules concerning conducting and reporting on your evaluation.  A field exam will be given to test your knowledge of field inspection concepts and practices. (You must attend both days of the training to receive an attendance certificate and to sit for the state exam.)
